-Vallabhipur is an ancient town situated in the Bhavnagar District, Gujarat.
-It was the erstwhile capital of Maurya Dynasty.
-This ancient center for learning was known as Vamilpur in its old days.
-Vallabhipur is 40 km north-west of Bhavnagar Steeped in history; Vallabhipur holds the reputation of being a center of Jain learning.
-The famous book ‘Shetrunjay Mahatmya’ was written by Acharya Dhaneshwar Surji here.
-Major point of attraction here is the Vallabhipur Teerth, a temple dedicated to Adinath Bhagwan.
-There is a museum, which houses some archaeological findings.

- - Vallbhi also called Vallbhipur,city of ancient India that was the the capital of maitraka dynasty in the fifth-eighth cencturies AD.It was situated on an inlet of the Gulf of Cambay(Khambhat),northwest of the port of Bhavnagar,in Sauratra(later Gujarat State),western India.
- The city is thought to have been established about AD 470 by founder of the dynasty,Senapati bhatarka,during the period when the Gupta empire was breaking up.It conpeared from history.It apparently Survied the Arab invansions of Saurashtra about 725-735.
- Valbhi was a celebreated centre of learning,with numerous Buddhist monasteries.
- It was visited by he chinese pilgrim Hsuan-tsang(Xuanzang)in the middle of the seventh century and and by I-ching) at the century's close.
- The latter described it as equalling the fame of Nalanda in Bihar.
- According to a jain tradition, THE second Jain council was held in Valbhi in the fifth or sixth century AD; at this council the Jain Scriptures assumed their present from.
- The city has now vanished,but it is identified with a village,<strong>Vala</strong>,where numerous copperplate inscription & seal of Maitrakas have been found.
